Crow's Nest is a family-owned self-catering guesthouse on Saldanha Bay Main Road, built on 25 years of international hospitality experience and a genuine love of hosting.
Our story
From a lifetime in hospitality
to a home on the bay.
Clive and Marlene van der Berg spent over 25 years working in hospitality across South Africa and internationally - from lodge management on the Garden Route to running front-of-house operations at properties in Cape Town and Namibia.
They have seen every corner of what makes a stay exceptional, and what quietly ruins one.
When they returned to Saldanha Bay — Marlene's home town — they knew exactly what they wanted to build: a small, well-run property where every detail was considered, prices were honest, and guests felt genuinely welcomed rather than merely checked in.
Crow's Nest opened with that vision intact. Today it accommodates up to 31 guests across eight self-catering studios, and both Clive and Marlene remain hands-on in the day-to-day running of the property.

25 years of experience
We've worked in boutique lodges, city hotels, and international properties. That depth of experience shows in the small things — the quality of the linen, the cleanliness of the kitchen, the way a late-check-in is handled.
Honest, fair pricing
We believe quality accommodation should not cost a fortune. Our rates are straightforward, our inclusions are generous — linen, towels, Wi-Fi, braai — and there are no hidden extras.
